- Grand parenting

o This role typically begins during middle adulthood. o Bernice Neugarten postulated there are three forms of grand parenting:  Remote: distant, but honored and obeyed  Involved: active in the daily life of the child and may even live with the child  Companionate: independent and friendly relationship with the child and they tend to live separately o The grandparent role is highly variable and ranges from entirely removed to surrogate parenting. - Career Considerations o Work is evaluated in many ways, extrinsically and intrinsically. Extrinsic and intrinsic rewards influence one another.  Extrinsically Reward and Motivation: money and salary; those who rely on extrinsic reward may feel burnout or feel alienated from the work they perform.  Intrinsically Reward and Motivation: personal satisfaction gained from work; those who rely on intrinsic reward may be happier with their work. o Career changes may occur due to physical or mental capability fluctuations. o Rapid shifts in technology may move someone out of the job market.
