Now we have reached the end of the whole numbers we add a decimal place and the first zero. Bring down the zero to add to the end of the remainder.

Again, using this new number again ask yourself, “what is the maximum number of times the divisor can go into the dividend evenly? The whole number is placed on top. The product of the answer is subtracted from the dividend. The difference has resulted in zero so we are done. When writing your final solution, you can leave the leading zero’s off the number.

Therefore, the fraction 78 15

converted to a decimal is 5.2.
