Integrating informatics with evidence-based practice (EBP) can only help improve the care provided to patients. Because there is so much information available today, in order to use technology to support evidence-based practice, nurses must understand and be literate about information. Key knowledge includes: • Knowing the kind of information needed • Being able to efficiently and effectively access the information • Being able to critically examine the information obtained and the sources from which it came • Using the information effectively, as an individual or team member, to achieve a specific purpose
