Nursing Preparation Study Guide

Nursing Preparation Study Guide Illustration : The given below graph shows the sales achieved by six branches of a consumer- goods company during the years 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Example 1. Find out the ratio of total sales in both years for B2 to total sales at B4. In this case, the sales for B2 for two years is (75+65) 140, while the total sales for B4 is (85+95) 180. Hence, the desired ratio becomes 140: 180, that is 7:9 2. What is the total sale achieved by B6 as a percentage of the sales for B3 combined for both the years? In this case, the total sale of B6 is 150 (70+80), that is sales 70 in 2000 and 80 in 2001 while that for B3 is 205 (95+110), that is 95 in the year 2000 and 110 in the year 2011. The desired percentage would be 150/205*100 = 73.17% 3. What percentage is the average sale for B1, B2 and B3 in 2001 is the average sales for B4, B5 and B6 in 2000? Average sales foe B1, B2 and B3 in 2001 would be [(105+65+110)/3] 93.33while the average sale of B4, B5 and B6 in 2000 would be [(85+75+70)/3] 76.67. The desired percentage would be 93.33/76.67*100 = 121.73% 4.1.5 Line Graphs Line graphs also provide visual representation of the collected data. Just like bar graphs, it also constitutes two axes, horizontal and vertical, and the values are joined though line. The values are derived by joining the corresponding points on the line by corresponding vertical and horizontal axis. Let us consider an example to see how to read and interpret the information from line graphs.
