3. Casual – loosely structured with nothing to link members. Conventional – members choose to be a part of this more structured behavior. Expressive – centered around a specific event; emotional. Solidaristic – members are united and/or in agreement. Acting crowds – expressive crowds that have turned angry or hostile (mobs & riots). 4. Crowds are groups that are in close proximity to one another. Mass behavior are those widely dispersed. 5. Mobs are violent toward a specific target while riots are violent toward multiple, sporadically changing, targets. 6. Mass communication types include: rumor, gossip, mass media, urban legends. 7. Mass behaviors include: fashion, fad, craze, panic, mass hysteria, and disaster behavior. 8.
