Anatomy & Physiology I and II

Anatomy & Physiology Study Guide

Anatomical Directions There are many directional terms in anatomy. Some of them are used interchangeably. Anterior and ventral both refer to the front of the body in the anatomical position. Becoming familiar with basic vocabulary will make the descriptions in subsequent chapters easier to follow. It is important to know that using “left” and “right” (and other directional terms) refer to the left and right sides of the subject, respectively, and never of the observer.
