It functions in diffusion, filtration, and reduction of friction in the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems. It is present in the kidney glomeruli, the lining of the heart, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and serosae. Epithelia: Simple Cuboidal Simple cuboidal epithelial tissue consists of a single layer of cube-shaped cells with large, spherical central nuclei. It functions in secretion and absorption. It is present in kidney tubules, ducts and secretory portions of small glands, and the surface of ovaries. Epithelia: Simple Columnar Simple columnar epithelial tissue consists of a single layer of tall cells with oval nuclei. Many of these cells have cilia.
