When an individual enters their 20s, there will be no more growth spirts, and a person’s hormones will start to calm down. A person will not become any taller, but a person’s muscles and fat storage will increase. An individual’s digestive, respiratory and reproductive system will be functioning at optimal levels between their 20s and 40s. During this stage, health problems are rare, and physicians will usually just treat sports injuries, and work with pregnant women. This isn’t to say that health issues will not arise such as colds, flu, etc., but it is rare for major health problems. Death during this stage is usually caused by accidents, more than an illness caused death. During this stage of life, a lot of people want to start their families. Statistics share that there is an unfortunate rate of infertility . There are approximately 15% of couples that experience infertility, which is the inability to conceive easily. While many couples go through this unpleasant and difficult experience, there are medical infertility interventions such as invitro fertilizations, and artificial insemination by women donors. Below are some of the causes of infertility. • Male Infertility o Some males may experience a low sperm count or may have malformed sperm o Age, childhood illnesses, prescription drug use, cigarette smoking, and stress are also causes of male infertility • Female Infertility o Ave, childhood illnesses, prescription drug use, cigarette smoking, and stress are also causes of female infertility o Weight of the mother: Being overweight or underweight can contribute to infertility o Failing to ovulate (this is the most common cause of female infertility) o High acidity in the female’s reproductive tract can destroy sperm 8.2 Concerns and conflicts of Early Adulthood There are many pressing issues when it comes to the health and wellness; especially when it comes to early adulthood. There are many things that adults will face. Below is a list of some of the concerns and conflicts that can occur in early adulthood. • Drug Abuse o During the early adulthood stage, many adults will be heavy drug users o Adults will ingest any type of drug, without any regard to amount or how often o Using drugs in a manner that can be detrimental physically o Drug addiction is defined as a condition of drug dependence • Dangerous Dieting o Continuous dieting can be very dangerous and unhealthy o Crash diets usually involve a nutritional imbalance, a loss of energy and the possibility of becoming vulnerable to diseases o Dangerous dieting can result in adults becoming either seriously underweight or may develop other serious and deadly health problems
