Client acuity is a fundamental element in nursing care and intervention prioritization. The level of client care required based on the severity of a client's illness or condition is referred to as acuity. Acuity can include things like unstable vital signs, oxygenation therapy, high-risk IV medicines, various drainage devices, or uncontrolled discomfort. A " high-acuity " client necessitates several nursing interventions as well as regular nurse assessments.

Triage When managing multiple clients, especially in the emergency room setting, nurses’ prioritization should focus on the client with the least stable condition . This method is known as the triage (sort) method. Triage care is an important process in nursing for prioritizing client care that allows nurses to allocate resources to the most pressing needs first. Subsequently, nurses must create a plan of action based on the assessed needs of the clients. Once the plan of action is in place, nurses must evaluate the care plan and adjust it as necessary to provide optimum care.
