Securely Attached - An attachment style where a child feels safe and confident in the caregiver's presence. Sympathetic Nervous System - A division of the ANS that prepares the body for "fight or flight" responses during stressful situations by increasing heart rate and releasing energy. Synaptic Gap - The small space between neurons across which neurotransmitters travel to transmit signals. Syntax - The rules for arranging words and phrases in sentences to create meaningful expressions in language.
