Chapter Four Essay Question Making full use of your freedom involves first identifying the constraints that limit your freedom. Use this next section to begin the self-reflection process, which will prepare you for increasing freedom: • Identify some of the important external constraints or limitations on your options that are imposed by people or circumstances outside of you. Are these people in your life who actively seek to limit your freedom? Are you locked into situations that present limited opportunities? • Identify some of the important internal constraints in your life. Which behaviors feel out of your conscious control and have a negative effect on your life, undermining many of the positive goals that you are striving for?

Chapter Five Essay Question How would you describe your idea of ultimate reality? Is it the physical reality of what you experience on a day to day basis? Or do you think of ultimate reality in terms of intellectual truths or insights? Do you consider ultimate reality to be defined in terms of spiritual metaphysics? Explain your thoughts.

Chapter Six Essay Question One of the core elements of thinking philosophically is reflecting thoughtfully on your intellectual development. Make a list of the philosophical themes that we studied in your Introduction to Philosophy courses and for each topic, write a few statements assessing the relative strength or weaknesses of your beliefs in that area.

It is important that your reflect honestly as this is a journey that you will continue for the rest of your life, and ongoing critical reflection is the tool you can use to chart your growth and ensure that you are on the path you wish to take.

Chapter Seven Essay Question Reflect on the religions that we reviewed in chapter seven (Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Indigenous) as well as other religions with which you are familiar. Identify several common themes that you find to be significant and explain how some of these themes might relate to your life:
